Speaker 1:

Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Dona Watson Show. I'm your host, Dona Watson. I'm just an average American Patriot who loves God, her family, her country. I try really hard to listen to God's voice. Sometimes I write stuff. Come with me, together let's explore this crazy experience we call life. Welcome to the show. Hello everybody. Welcome to podcast 11: "Good Friday...The Most Amazing Love Story." I'm recording and airing this podcast episode on April 2nd, 2021. It's Good Friday. Good Friday is such a somber day, a bittersweet day for us today. Bitter because we know of Christ's anguish and suffering and the price that he paid that was so steep, but it's sweet because we know the end of the story and how he conquered and rose again. When I look at the events of Good Friday, how Christ suffered and died to be the perfect sacrifice for my sins, I know in the back of my mind, Sunday's a' comin'! I know that victory has already been achieved. But then, I can't help but think of Jesus' disciples and how they must have felt on that Friday. They didn't know the ending of the story. They had so much still to learn, to realize. They had head knowledge with what Christ had taught them, but that hadn't yet connected with their hearts and their spirits. But that day would come soon. Oh yes, it would. But still on that somber, sad Friday, Christ gave his life and in so doing he conquered sin and death. The disciples just didn't know yet that the hard work had already been completed. Today I challenge you to remember this: when life looks dark and depressing, when it looks like all is lost, remember the heavy lifting has already been done. Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb of God paid the ultimate sacrifice with his blood. He conquered sin and death. He is in control. He knows everything about you and he's already paid for your redemption. It might look dark now, but we know the end of this story already. God is almighty, all powerful and no evil can stand in his way. Thank you, Jesus, for paying the price for us. Thank you for being willing to suffer on my behalf so that I can be free. John 3:16 and 17 in the Christian Standard Bible (which is, in case you're wondering, the version that I use for all my studies): "For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." Yep . Lift up your heads, my friends. Sunday's a' comin'! Talk to you later. Bye!
