Sometimes life presents us with dark valleys where it seems we can barely see clearly enough to put one foot in front of the other. These are times when it seems that no matter what we choose, it will be the wrong choice. What can you do? Let's talk about it.

Speaker 1:

Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Dona Watson Show. I'm your host, Dona Watson. I'm just an average American Patriot who loves God, her family, her country. I try really hard to listen to God's voice. Sometimes I write stuff. Come with me, together let's explore this crazy experience we call life. Welcome to the show. Hello. Hello. Welcome to podcast 15:"Walking Through Darkness." Today I want to talk with you for just a couple of minutes about being in the dark. Sometimes life can get a little confusing, as if we're walking through a dark Valley without a lantern or even a flashlight. And we can barely see far enough ahead to put one foot in front of the other and situations can arise that throw us for a loop. And we don't know what to do. These are times when it seems that no matter how hard, no matter what we choose, it's going to be the wrong choice. This dark valley can be a place that we reached through poor decisions of our own, or it could be that we did everything God wanted us to do and the path he led us on, brought us to this place. Either way, it's a really tough place to be. It can even feel as if God has abandoned us here in the dark. And then sometimes we're tempted to blame him for not coming through for us the way we wanted him to. When we go through these times of painful difficulty, it can be helpful to remember the example that Jesus Christ set for us. He knows what the darkness feels like. When Jesus was on the cross, he took on all the sins of the world. God the Father turned his face away from all that sin and Jesus in his despair moaned,"Oh God, why have you forsaken me?" And yet Jesus never lost his trust in God's plan to redeem mankind. Luke 23:46 reads,"Snd Jesus called out with a loud voice,'Father, into your hands. I entrust my spirit.' Saying this, he breathed his last." Sometimes when we are in the darkest valleys of our lives, all we can do is to acknowledge the unseen and perhaps unfelt presence of the Father and express our trust in him. We may not know what to do, but we can pray,"Father, I'm in your hands." Know that this posture of the heart is pleasing to God and keeps the path open for him to speak to you and to show you what to do. I'd like to wrap up today's podcast with a few verses from Psalm 31. The words that Jesus spoke on the cross actually came from this Psalm and they are comforting words indeed. Psalm 31:1-5 reads,"Lord, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced. Save me by your righteousness. Listen closely to me; rescue me quickly. Be a rock of refuge for me, a mountain fortress to save me. For you are my rock and my fortress; you lead and guide me for your name's sake. You will free me from the net that is secretly set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hand I entrust my spirit; you have redeemed me, Lord, God of truth." Take heart, my friends. Darkness doesn't last forever. The sun will rise again and joy comes in the morning. That's all for today. I love you guys. Have a good day. Remember, God loves you. Take care. Bye.
