Speaker 1:

Hello, everybody. Welcome to the Dona Watson Show. I'm your host, Dona Watson. I'm just an average American Patriot who loves God, her family, her country. I try really hard to listen to God's voice. Sometimes I write stuff. Come with me, together let's explore this crazy experience we call life. Welcome to the show. Hello, everybody. Welcome to podcast number 26:"God Sees You and He Understands You." Do you ever find yourself stuck in a dark valley where it seems you've lost your way? Where it seems you can't see far enough ahead to know which way to go? I want to encourage you today to realize that you don't have to go it alone. I want to look today at two of my favorite passages of scripture, the first chapter of John and Psalm 139. And I invite you to come along with me. In John 1, I want to particularly focus on verses 11 to 13. It reads in the Christian Standard Bible:"He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born, not of natural descent, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God." Notice here that the only condition to being a child of God is to receive Jesus. When we believe in him, who he is and what he came to do, we become born again as children of God. If you've been in church for a while, I'm sure you've heard that more than once, but I love to flesh things out. I love how Psalm 16 fleshes out what it means to be a child of God. Verses 5-6 reads:"Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance." Do you notice here how God holds our future? He has planned for each one of us a beautiful inheritance. What an amazing thought. Now let's jump over to Psalm 139, and I want to read the first 12 verses of that chapter."Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away. You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, Lord. You have encircled me; you have placed your hand on me. This wondrous knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it. Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. If I fly on the wings of the dawn and settle down on the western horizon, even there your hand will lead me; your right hand will hold on to me. If I say,'Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light around me will be night'-- even the darkness is not dark to you. The night shines like the day; darkness and light are alike to you." Notice here that God sees you wherever you are. He understands your thoughts. He knows what makes you tick. He even knows what you're going to say before you utter the words. The Psalmist points out that no matter where God's children are, God holds us. He holds you in his hand. In fact, the Psalmist(in this case, it's David), he even goes so far as to say that God sees just as clearly in our darkness, as he sees in the light. When we're lost in a dark valley, how comforting it is to know that God is never without sight. He sees us in the dark. And even when we can't see the path ahead, God sees the way. He knows our path. And he knows the solutions to the problems that are facing us right now. Yes, God sees you. God understands you. God's hand is on you and he will guide you. Today. He sees just as well in the dark as he does in the light. Lean on him today. That's all I have for you guys today. I hope you have a wonderful day and remember Jesus loves you and I do too. Take care! Bye!
