This world we live in is not an easy one. I see you. You've been knocked down again and again and it seems life still doesn't let up. Maybe you’ve asked yourself: What’s a person to do when they hit rock bottom and the only way to look is up?

The world tells us to pull ourselves together, to get over it, to get up and keep going. Well, these all can be valid bits of advice at some point in our lives, sometimes it just seems like it's too much work, doesn't it?

I want to tell you today that when you get to the end of Your Rd.,, Jesus will be there waiting for you. Jesus says, “Lean on me.” Jesus says, “It gets to be easy.” Jesus says to “walk by faith.” Jesus says, “Trust ME.”

Ah. And there's where we come to the core issue. Trust. To “walk by faith” is to trust in Jesus, to know that God has your best interests in mind—no matter what the storm looks like around you.

This is indeed a mystery and the truth is that sometimes we do not understand until we take that first step. God calls us to embrace this mystery of walking by faith by trusting that, as a good Father, he's got our backs.

And what happens when we embrace the mystery of trusting in God, well, on the other side of that first step there is peace, contentment, and deep love. But hat doesn't mean that all your problems will melt away. What it does mean, is that the Holy Spirit will comfort you in your trouble and it will be easier to manage the load that we are all asked to carry.

God calls us to embrace the mystery of living by faith, to live in such a way that you trust what he is doing in your life, even when you don't fully understand it. When we lean on him, faith gives us the insight that we need to keep going. Faith gives us eyes to see the path ahead to keep us from stumbling. Living in faith trusts that God will nourish our souls with the fruit of the Spirit—and this fruit always satisfies.

Living in faith and trusting God calls us to not turn away from the unknown. Like when Moses saw the wonder of a bush that burned with fire but was not consumed, God calls us into his presence, where the flames of his divine essence burn away the dross and reveal secrets to us that we would never know otherwise.

God calls us to lean into him, to see past the veil and to walk in the strength of the Holy Spirit. God calls us to trust him. God calls us to embrace the mystery of living with him as our chief guide and counselor.

God calls us to step out of fear and to live with courage. And all it takes, is that first step to say yes to him.

Reading from Psalm 91, The Passion Translation:

“When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High. He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence. He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusation and any deadly curse. His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm. You will never worry about an attack of demonic forces at night nor have to fear a spirit of darkness coming against you. Don’t fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble you, nor will the powers of evil be launched against you. Even in a time of disaster, with thousands and thousands being killed, you will remain unscathed and unharmed. You will be a spectator as the wicked perish in judgment, for they will be paid back for what they have done! When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail against us or disease infect us? God sends angels with special orders to protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm. If you walk into a trap, they’ll be there for you and keep you from stumbling. You’ll even walk unharmed among the fiercest powers of darkness, trampling every one of them beneath your feet! For here is what the Lord has spoken to me: “Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name, I will greatly protect you. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble. I will deliver you and bring you honor. I will satisfy you with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!””
